Senate District 55 2026 Resolutions Committee Report
March 14th, 2026
2026 Report of Platform and Resolutions Committee
55th District Republican Party of Minnesota
Committee: Matt Day, Mark Hyde, Brian Ewoldt
Resolution 1: Recommend Approval
The Republican Party of Minnesota shall update school choice language by adding Education Savings
Accounts (ESAs) to the final bullet point of Section 4 of the Educate Our Children plank as follows:
Expanding tax credits, deductions, and voucher programs Education Savings Accounts (ESAs), including for
students attending religious schools.
Platform Committee comments: This resolution, which shifts focus to students rather than institutions, was
proposed by the Center of the American Experiment and received broad support at the precinct caucuses. It
was proposed in nine precincts and approved by all nine.
Resolution 2: Recommend Approval
With the Supreme Court’s June 24, 2022 Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision, the Roe v.
Wade decision was overturned. The Republican Party of Minnesota shall update its platform language
reflecting this decision:
We call for overturning the Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Gomez decisions.
and
The U.S. and Minnesota Constitutions should be amended to restore legal protection to the lives of innocent
human beings from conception to natural death.
Resolution 3: Recommend Approval
The state of Minnesota should reinstate the Positive Alternatives Act, which gave women in need and their unborn
children lifesaving access to assistance and alternatives to abortion through a state grant program for pro-life
pregnancy resource centers.
Resolution 4: Recommend Approval
We support immigration reform that favors those who wish to assimilate and support our country’s values and
Constitution.
Resolution 5: Recommend Approval
We support restoration of the historic and nonpartisan Minnesota flag over the highly divisive, partisan, and
unattractive state flag.
Resolution 6: Recommend Approval
We commend and support the ongoing efforts of the Minnesota House and Senate GOP caucuses to identify,
investigate, and prosecute the widespread, rampant, and ongoing taxpayer funded fraud. We encourage these
leaders to continue their vigorous efforts towards protecting the Minnesota taxpayers from this outrage.
Resolution 7: Recommend Approval
We commend and thank President Trump and Vice President Vance for their leadership. We express our
gratitude for their efforts to secure our borders, tame inflation, reduce mandates, and defend our values.
Resolution 8: Recommend Approval
We commend House Speaker Lisa Demuth, Senate Minority Leader Mark Olson, and the GOP legislative
caucuses. We are grateful for and support their efforts to identify and eliminate fraud, maintain a safe state,
and put students first.
Resolution 9: Refer for Discussion
We support the elimination of birthright citizenship.
Platform Committee comments: While the resolution may have merit, it raises a potential conflict with the
Constitution.
Resolution 10: Refer for Discussion
We believe in free enterprise and free markets, but some regulations are beneficial to protect consumers and
to promote the well-being of families. Parents need help against predatory industries that market to and work to
addict children to emerging tech products. We support limitations on the ability of tech companies to market to
and capture the data of minors without parental consent. These laws include requirements that parents
consent to the use of social media by their children.
Platform Committee comments: This resolution was submitted in three precincts and response was mixed: it
was approved by two precincts and defeated in one. The committee notes that the existing RPM platform
states the following: We must protect the fundamental right of a parent to direct the upbringing, education, and
physical & mental health of their minor child up until the age of 18. All parental rights are reserved without
obstruction or interference unless they have been legally waived or terminated in a court of law.
Resolution 11: Refer for Discussion
The family is the cornerstone of society, and the well-being of a nation depends on the health of the natural
family. Economic factors affect decisions to marry and form families. Therefore, the tax burden on families
must be limited and home ownership must be in the reach of more people. We support policies that promote
affordability, such as expanding the Minnesota child tax credit deeper into the middle class, as well as
removing regulatory burdens that diminish the supply and increase the price of homes.
Platform Committee comments: This resolution was submitted in the same three precincts as Resolution 10
and had the same outcomes (approved in two, defeated in one).
